Why Bridge Builders…?

It is not shocking to discover that the design for families has been broken. Adults and children alike are struggling through each day and we believe there is “a more excellent way.”
Did you know children raised in one-parent homes make-up…

  • 63% of child and adolescent suicides
  • 71% of teenage pregnancies
  • 90% of homeless and/or runaway children
  • 70% of juveniles in state-operated institutions
  • 85% of youth with behavior disorders
  • 71% of high school dropouts
  • 75% of teens in chemical abuse centers
  • 85% of adolescents sitting in prison

Or did you know that children raised in one-parent families are…

  • twice as likely to struggle with emotional disorders and social impairments
  • 3 times more likely to struggle in school or have to repeat a grade
  • 5 times more likely to not only live in poverty but continue the same poverty cycle they grew up in
  • 33 times more likely to be abused to the point of requiring immediate medical attention

At Bridge Builders we look at these numbers and say, “NO MORE.” These families deserve a fighting chance so instead of throwing up our hands, and shrugging our shoulders, convinced the problem is bigger than us, we believe it is our calling and mission to walk alongside these precious families in their journeys.  As they often struggle with issueswhich include fear, despair, feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, low-selfesteemand lack of basic parenting and life skills. By working with these hurting families we are able to send the message that Restoration is Possible, Hope is Available, and we are here to help with the struggles of being a single parent.
